Gu Xiong: a journey exposed
May 7 to August 23, 2014

The first major exhibition of work outside the Artists for Kids Teaching Collection was a turning point for the Gordon Smith Gallery. A journey exposed presented artworks by Gu Xiong that referenced the personal and global nature of his work. The works, created from 1993 to 2014, spoke to Xiong’s experience of immigration from China to Canada, a near-death drowning incident he survived, as well as Xiong’s critical research practices. The exhibition was curated by Astrid Heyerdahl.
