To celebrate Asian Heritage Month this May, discover the beauty of banig – a traditional Filipino weaving design that is used to make household objects, most notably the sleeping mats. Please join Yvette Salazar, Program Manager at the Gordon Smith Gallery and Art Educator for the Vancouver Art Gallery, as we explore this art work in a hands-on workshop using a simplified banig weaving technique. Using recycled materials, you’ll create a small woven project to take home.
