Celebrate Asian Heritage Month at the Gordon Smith Gallery for the month of May this Saturday, the 23rd! Join Yvette Salazar, Program Manager at the Gordon Smith Gallery and Art Educator for the Vancouver Art Gallery, as she takes you through the beauty of banig – a Filipino tradition that normally uses long Pandan leaves to create beautiful designs for many household objects, most notably the sleeping mats. We will be using a simplified banig weaving technique, using recycled materials to create your own small woven project to take home!
